There’s a buzz in the air and Bengaluru’s local markets are filled with colour. Fruits and flowers are piled high while home stores tempt shoppers with their best festive merchandise. The Gowri-Ganesha festival celebrations seem to be in full swing across the city. With a long weekend around the corner, we girls at Koskii just can’t wait to get going with the festivities and feast on local delicacies like the jaggery stuffed Holige and sweet Paayasa!
The Gowri Habba is a significant celebration across the southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Telengana. It is dedicated to the Goddess Parvati and leads in to Ganesh Chaturti, a festival that honours her beloved son, Lord Ganesha. On this day, ladies get dressed in beautiful new clothes and perform a special ritual-the Swarna Gowri Vrata amongst other puja’s for the Goddess. A few days later, the Ganesh Chaturti festival is celebrated with sacred rituals and special food to mark the day of his resurrection as the Elephant-God who is invoked on all auspicious occasions.
Since festivals in India are also a time to leave behind the old and usher in the new, we often decorate and refurbish our homes, re-stock kitchens and make space in our wardrobes for some special festive-wear. So while we make plans for the celebrations ahead, we’re also making time to pop by at Koskii to check out their new range of dazzling festive wear in unusual colours and heavy embroidery; marron and gold always works for a classic look, but you can also picks a wide variety of pastels and warmer colour tones like red, yellow, saffron, orange and turmeric.
The new additions to our store are totally on trend and include embroidered gowns, the Anarkali Kurta, high collared kurtas and Trail Cut Lehenga-a hot favourite that is gaining popularity by the day. But there are also plenty of other options for you to choose from.
If you want to go completely traditional, check out Koskii’s saree collection with options for both a formal and semi-formal look. The saree is a classic trend that never goes out of fashion and is therefore a great investment this season.
